Fort Worth Transplant Institute Best in Texas for One-Year Kidney Graft Survival Rate
The Fort Worth Transplant Institute at Plaza Medical Center has the best one-year graft survival rate in Texas and second best in the nation for kidney transplants – 100 percent, according to a recent report from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (www.srtr.org). The Plaza Medical Center program also has one of the shortest wait times in the United States for patients to receive a transplant – approximately six months, compared to more than 72 months wait time nationally.Read More
National Kidney Registry Honors Plaza Transplant Team
The National Kidney Registry (NKR) recently honored the Fort Worth Transplant Institute at Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth of Fort Worth with an “Excellence in Teamwork Award” for being part of the largest kidney swap in U.S. history. The chain of kidney transplants involved 70 recipients and donors, including a Fort Worth patient who received a kidney at Plaza through the national swap. Fort Worth Transplant Institute Surgical Director George Rofaiel, M.D., and the institute’s Medical Director Sridhar Allam, M.D., accepted the award for the Plaza transplant team at the NKR’s “Seventh Annual Season of Miracles Awards Gala” at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
